Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, roughly oblong shpae with rounded lobes to either end, straight-sided flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print of 'Alexandra Palace 1873' (although this title is not recorded on the lid), showing Alexandra Palace with in the foreground a large crowd of figures, some on horseback and some in carriages, the scene is not enclosed by a border. The glazed crazed, the rim of the flange and the rim of the top of the lid chipped. The pot-lid mounted for display in a close fitting wooden frame of the same shape as the pot-lid and painted black.
