Large deep earthenware bowl, sides curving outwards from a cylindrical foot. Bowl lithographed and enamelled with 'Horse and Jockey' design; three separate horse and jockey motifs (one in well of bowl and one each on opposite exterior side) of a leaping black horse ridden by a jockey with white and buff trousers and boots, orange jumper and black peaked cap. In well of bowl riding above a narrow, curved, hand painted strip of green and yellow ground and a line of four strokes. On exterior riding over an elongated version of the same scenery with brown wooden fencing on either side, one horse placed in mid flight, the other (the same transfer) placed dipping towards the ground. Bright green band just below the rim on the exterior and interior of the bowl; broader bright orange/yellow band around upper part of interior, and around exterior foot.
