Early Iron Age bronze vessel

1 CuA flat vessel base sheet fragment. Eleven circular rivets with slightly flattened tops and with circular shanks are placed adjacent to a curved sheet edge. The absence of sheet fragments between the rivet heads and the base sheet indicate that the base sat over the upper tier sheet. Sheet has a straight folded break, as indicated by sections of the break which have bent over sheet along it. Small circular rivets with slightly flattened tops at spacing of 16.7-18.1mm suggest a Type B2 cauldron of Type Raffrey Bog (as opposed to Type Battersea with rivets at 12-15mm spacing). The construction of the base plate over the upper tier rules out the possibility of a multi-sheet globular vessel of La Tene type (i.e. Type Walthamstow/La Tene). An alternative possibility is that this is a repair sheet for the base of a cauldron.
