Early Mesolithic stone adze
An adze made of volcanic tuff. The tool has been made as a core tool with flaking extensive on both faces. The tool has a tapering butt and a tranchet flake has been removed to create a cutting edge. The adze has been thin sectioned for petrological analysis and then gap-filled.
Tuff adze or axe, found at Trwyn Du, Anglesey. Chopping tools were fitted into wooden hafts and used for wood-working.
