(3798 gt) : Built 1918 by John Priestman & Co., Sunderland, as SUNLAND for Sun Shipping Co. Ltd., (managed by Mitchell Cotts & Co.), both of London. In 1934, the vessel was sold to Cephalonian Maritime Co. Ltd., (managers - N. D. Lykiardopulos), of Athens, Greece, and renamed DAPHNE. In 1939, it was sold again, to G. N. Embiricos, also of Greece, & renamed EMBIRICOS NICOLAOS. On 21st March 1941, while in ballast, and part of Convoy AS-21 en route from Piraeus to Port Said, she was bombed by German aircraft and sank 20 miles southeast of Gavdhos Island, south of Crete. Two lives were lost.
