Spode, Josiah II (1755-1827)
Plate, bone china, fair translucency with slight green tinge, lustrous greyish glaze, waved rim with gadrooned moulding, the centre painted in polychrome enamels with a circular reserve of a dark-coloured urn containing tulips, a rose, convolvulus and other garden flowers, on a grey marble shelf against a shaded brown ground, all within a gilt circle, the rim reserved with a six-sided cream/yellow band, edged with gilt foliate scrolls, and bordered with seeded gilt panels, the rim gadroons edged with feather gilding.
