Bellarmine
Bellarmine, of pale-grey stoneware, standing on a narrow raised foot integral to the body, the body, bulbous, the neck narrow, long and slightly tapered ending in a cordoned rim; loop handle with central ridge and elongated lower terminal; the exterior covered with a rich dark iron-brown wash and a light salt-glaze giving an 'orange peel' effect; applied to the neck, with a bearded face mask, below this to the body with an applied medallion containing the letters P V A in a monogram above an anchor.
