Roman samian dish
Dish with curved walls and overhanging rim. Rim decorated with an applied trailed leaves pattern
Samian dish found at Segontium, Caernarfon. 70-110 CE.
The Romans mass-produced pottery and transported it across their empire. Most of the pottery used in Wales was produced locally but the Romans imported this glossy red slipware from Gaul, now France.
