H.M.S. CHURCHILL, negative

Built at Barrow in 1968, she was one of the Valiant class of Fleet submarines. She has recently been withdrawn from service with the Royal Navy.

Submarine - pennant no. S46. Laid down June 1967 by Vickers Engineering & Shipbuilding Ltd., Barrow-in-Furness, and completed and commissioned in 1970. She was the first of three Churchill-class nuclear powered submarines, and was euipped with a Rolls –Royce reactor, and fitted with pump-jet propulsion.
