Wedgwood, Josiah ((1730 - 1795))
Plate, small, cream-glazed earthenware, middling creamy yellow body, glaze slightly tinged with green. Flat base without a foot ring, everted rim with lobed and feather-moulded edge; transfer-printed in on-glaze black 'Success to SIR NICHOLAS BAYLY'S / COPPER MINES / at Paris Mountain' within an elaborate cartouche of curving straps ornamented with foliage, the rim further printed with six sprays of flowers and foliage.
