The First Enemy (painting)

Rogers, Terry F.J. (Born in 1922, Newport. Served in the Royal Navy on the Atlantic & Arctic convoys during the Second World War. After war became a painter and decorator. Gave that up in the mid 1970s due to illness and became an artist. At first painting ships he was familiar with, especially Newport ships, and later moving onto sailing vessels.)

View of Arctic Convoy J.W. 53. H.M.S. Bergamot is the escort vessel depicted on the right of this. Signed bottom right. Framed.

The tradition of ship portraiture lives on in South Wales in the person of Terry Rogers of Newport. During the war he served on the corvette HMS Bergamot, sailing in the difficult north Russian convoys, and this canvas records Terry’s recollections of those voyages. Dear Sir, Would it be possible to get a print of this painting. My father served on the Bergamot at this time and Terry Rogers would have been his shipmate. As such I would like to obtain a print of this painting.
Regards James Pearson
