Roman copper alloy zoomorphic plate brooch
Sitting cockerel with hollow three dimensional body. Enamelling is confined to the bird's back, forming a necklet of four triangles, behind which is a copper alloy lozenge with a line to the tail surrounded with enamel. On each side are four cells, the larger two with blue enamel surviving. The eye consists of moulded concentric circles. The upstanding comb is broken off as is the end of the tail which is furnished with a hole for chain attachment. Pin missing but originally hinged
