Tankard, brown stoneware, with a deep lustrous brown salt glaze, pewter rim mount to the base, squat tapering body, ornamented between two ribs moulded with inscriptions, the letters picked out in white enamels, with a band of engine turning, enamelled white, red, blue and gree and gilded, and reserved with two medallions incised and sprigged with a star amid beads, a medallion painted in polychrome enamels with a man in a yellow leather coat facing to right, a large heart, pierced with two arrows, in red enamel and gilding, betweenthe raised initials IS / CS, a medallion painted in polychrome enamels with a woman in dark gown facing to left, and two further medallions with stars, the handle moulded with a lion mask and foliate scrolls, enamelled as above; stepped domed pewter cover, hinged, and with a collared baluster finial and shell thumbpiece.
