Pot-lid
Pot-lid, earthenware, circular shape with cylindrical flange and convex top; the upperside of the lid decorated with an underglaze polychrome transfer-print, with additional overglaze colours added by hand, of 'Dr. Johnson', showing the figure of Dr. Johnson seated in an Eighteenth Century interior setting with further seated male figures behind him, around the bottom of the scene is the inscription "DR. JOHNSON", the print enclosed by a narrow circular dotted border. The edge of the top of the lid chipped, the glaze crazed.
