A coat of arms: the Virgin Tudfil, with distaff - denoting the industry of the borough,between two daggers - symbolising her martyrdom here early in the sixth century, encircled by the motto: NID . CADARN . OND . BRODYRDDE, and surrounded by an oak wreath ensigned with a crown, and bearing three discs displaying a blast furnace, Trevithick's engine (launched here) and the local Morlais castle.
