Brown cut away frock coat (tail coat). Worn by Gareth Jones when a member of Parti'r Gest folk dancing group, 1955-6. Brown 2/1 twill outer fabric, back lined with light brown 4/1 twill fabric, front and tails lined with dark brown tabby (singles yarns, Z-spun). Sleeves unlined. No centre vent in tail. Shoulders not padded. One black popper button on lower inside front, corresponding with poppers on outside of waistcoat (.3) indicating that the two will have been fastened together when worn. Turn-backs of cuffs are finished off on the inside with strips of the light brown fabric (same as used for lining the back). Sleeves are cut with pinking shears, leaving a wide, unfinished seam allowance.
