Steam engine made at Nixon's Navigation Colliery
Portable engine with belt drive used to drive a pump, or other small machines, in any part of the mine. It was designed to run on compressed air rather than steam. 4" diameter and 5" stroke. R.E. "Small vertical steam engine (crankshaft above piston). Crankshaft supported by two cast iron frames, round crosshead guide bars, flywheel (630mm dia) has 'S' shaped spokes, crowned pulley (300mm dia) appears to be ballanced, heavy cast iron base. Colour - green & black, paint not original."
