Hand carder
Hand carder with rectangular head. Slightly shaped handle set into back of head. Card cloth with metal hooks overall, fixed onto face of heads by means of panel pins tacked through strips of leather.
Used by Doris James of Abertridwr to open out the fibres of wool for quilt filling, 1950s. She shared the carders with another quilter, Gwen Stone.
