Early Medieval iron strip

Two angled-strips, probably staples or binding strips. Similar pieces found at Cahercommaun (fig 32, 69, 132) were interpreted as bindings for the hoops of stave-built tubs or buckets, on the analogy of the strip found in position on such a hop at Ballinderry crannog No 1 (fig 20, B). In teutonic contexts comparable strips were used as coffin-clamps, eg Koln-Mungersdorf, grave 122.
