Early Medieval silver arm ring
Flat fragment of penannular arm-ring terminal of Hiberno-Viking type. It has the form of a broad flat band of silver of rectangular cross-section, and is decorated on the external face by a chevron made from a bar stamp with plain centre between serrated edges, between transverse impressions of the same punch. The arm-ring tapers to a rounded end. The fractured edge has broken along one of the transverse punched impressions.
The arm-ring now measures a maximum of 22mm in length, with a maximum width of 10mm, tapering to 7.9mm, and thickness of 2mm. Weight 3.43g.
