Neolithic bone flute

This incomplete flute features three perforations in a row. At the proximal end the largest of these three holes has a diameter of 7mm, while the two others are approximately 4mm each. The smaller holes are roughly cut in comparison with the larger and are spaced at approximately 15mm. The upper proximal end of the bone has been split through at a slight angle by a spiral fracture. The item shows traces of root etching.

Sheep bone, about 3700 BCE. It was found in Penywyrlod Tomb, suggesting that the community farmed sheep.
