Monotype casting machine, photograph
Copy of a photograph of the discharge side of a 'Monotype' machine. The type is discharged letter by letter, and when a line has been completed, the lines that have already been set up are moved forwards to make room for a new line. The operator is feeding an ingot into the reservoir of molten type-metal. One end of the matrix case can be seen just below and to the left of the ingot. Mounted on card.
