Brooch
Nash, Mandy (Mandy Nash started her jewellery business in 1983 after leaving the Royal College of Art - she has had a studio at Model House Craft and Design Centre in Llantrisant since 1990. She works primarily in anodised aluminium which perfectly compliments her fascination with colour and pattern and enables her to make wearable, affordable jewellery which is colourful and fun to wear.
Her work is inspired by trips to Cuba and Japan - abstracting the colours, patterns and memories of those journeys into earrings, brooches and necklaces. Always experimenting with new ideas, she has also added a collection of complimentary clocks to her range of jewellery and has recently started experimenting in felt.
Nash is actively involved in the craft scene in Wales; she is on the board of directors of Model House and is on the board of trustees of the Makers Guild in Wales. She also teaches all ages and organises exhibitions and events nationally and internationally.)
Brooch, aluminium, metal pin attached to the back with clay; in the shape of a kangaroo, a spiral decorates its central point.
Nash's work is inspired by trips to Cuba and Japan - abstracting the colours, patterns and memories of those journeys into earrings, brooches and necklaces. This work combines subtly coloured aluminium with textured swirls of shiny pewter.
