Roman copper alloy crossbow brooch
lightweight crossbow brooch with flange at the base of the bow. Highly arched bow. Originally knobs at the ends of the arms and a third rising from the centre of the head. The rear of this cental knob, the only to survive is flat. Bow has a pronounced central rib with evidence for a line of pellets running up both sides. The back of the bow is flat. Foot badly corroded but appears to have been rounded. Most of both arms now lost.
