Early Bronze Age pottery cordoned urn
Tripartite cordoned urn with simple rounded rim with shallow internal bevel decorated with two rows of twisted cord impressions. The zone above the cordon is decorated with a series of opposed triangles of whipped cord impressions filled with oblique trwisted cord impressions. This zone is bordered by a pair of parallel twisted cord lines encircling the rim and a row of whipped cord impressions just above the cordon. A large proportion of the external surface of the urn has been burnt, in some areas to the extent that the original surface has been obliterated and decoration is difficult to see. The entire urn is also misshapen and flattened. Gibson (2013, 83) suggests this implies that the vessel was a firing waster. However, as the pot was placed on it's side in the the grave such distortion may have occured after burial.
