Newport Brass Foundry, photograph
Norgate, T. (Newport College of Art)
Photograph captioned ''Newport Brass Foundry. The mould is made of hard-packed sand to the shape of a wooden pattern of the casting which is required. It is contained usually in a cast iron box. There are appropriate holes in the sand so that the molten brass flows into the spaces prepared for it and when it has solidified it will be in the shape of the required casting. The upper half of a casting box is being guided into the lower half. The open door of the furnace is in the background.'' Mounted on card. Made for the exhibition RECORDING WALES 3 in 1970/1971.
