Cup, hard-paste porcelain, inset base, cylindrical sides, scrolled loop handle; the exterior sides covered with a brown tortoiseshell ground, this then decorated in gilt with around the upper body a border of a looping line with Greek anthemions on a striped background between two gilt lines, a band of gilt dots around the lower body, gilt bands around the foot-rim and lip-rim, the handle painted in gilt Saucer, hard-paste porcelain, inset base and flaring sides; the upperside of the saucer covered with a brown tortoisehell ground, this then decorated in gilt with to the centre of the well a star enclosed by a wreath of foliage, around the sides of the well a border of foliate and scrolled motifs, gilt bands around the edge of the well and the rim.
