Jug

Jug, pearlware with a blue tinge to the glaze, bulbous body, cylindrical neck, beak spout with shell-like moulding around the underside, loop handle; the jug relief-moulded with to one side of the body the head and shoulders of a male figure with the name 'ADMIRAL DUNCAN' in raised letters on the sash he wears across his chest, the figure decorated in orange, brown and black with a green sea below and yellow, orange and brown naval vessels to either side, to the other side of the body, the head and shoulders of another male figure with the name 'CAPTAIN TROLOP' in raised letters on a sah as before, this figure also decorated in orange, brown and black with an orange and brown naval vessel to one side and the blue and orange draped figure of Clio, the muse of history, to the other, around the lower body a pattern of raised wheat ears in orange and green, around the neck a raised vine pattern in blue and green, to the shoulder of the handle a raised acanthus leaf outlined in brown.
