This image was inspired by Viola’s speech in Shakespeare’s play Twelfth Night.
“[…] she pined in thought,
And with a green and yellow melancholy She sat like patience on a monument, Smiling at grief.”, (Act II: Scene IV)
Woolmer often referred to literary subjects by great writers such as Byron, Milton and Tennyson, which appealed to romantic and gothic tastes.
