Flat police cap cap made from navy blue fulled wool, made in 7 sections, 1 for the top and 2 either side of the top, a line of piping is sewn into the seam between the top and underside of the cap, there is also a strip for the sides with a seam at the CB, all seams sewn by machine. 2 black coated metal eyelets at either side for ventilation and a white metal and blue enamelled badge for Monmouthshire police force pinned to the centre front. Black plastic peak with textured blue plastic on the underside and black plastic binding around the edge, thin black plastic hat band which sits across the front and is attached with 2 round, black plastic buttons at the sides, the band is adjustable. Cream coloured faux leather forehead band attached by machine with brown thread in a zigzag stitch, Strip of brown velvet at the front where the hat would sit against the forehead, this is machine sewn to the faux leather with a straight stitch in brown thread, There is a white bow sewn to the faux leather band at the back above the letters ‘548’ written in faded biro ink. Pink coloured polyester lining, 1 piece for the crown and 1 for the sides, the side section is quite loose. A diamond shaped label is adhered to the centre of the crown lining, it is black with gold writing and border, with the word ‘GRANTHAM’ there is also a small circular shaped orange sticker with the size typed in black text it reads ’60 7 ½’ There are 5 loose strips of white polypropylene ties inserted next to the sides of the hat
