Mayor McKeldin about to drive a mechanical street sweeper

Wirephoto published in the Tribune newspaper in 1963. Purchased by David Hurn from MMG Photo Archives.

Full title: THE BIG SWEEP - Mayor McKeldin takes the controls of the city's mechanized sweeper which, after failing in a test run in East Baltimore last year, tries again - this time on the west side of town. Today's test was in the 800 block Arlington Avenue. Parked cars thwarted earlier efforts of the sweeper.

The photograph is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the librarian of the Baltimore Sun Archives Paul M McCardell.
