Waistcoat

sleeveless, single-breasted dark blue woollen twill evening waistcoat with black synthetic (?) back panel; 4 pockets with flaps (lined with black cotton twill); hand stitched button holes, all the rest machine stitched; 6 brass buttons engraved with letters HOH (Hawkstone Otter Hounds); strap at back with buckle fastening; white inside lining printed with grey and red stripes.

back panel constructed from two parts joined together by seam down centre back. Evidence of previous machine stitch holes and pattern of soiling in line with the side seams on lining (back panel) indicates that the waistcoat has been altered, i.e. made wider. blue tabby wool inner facing down centre front, c. 6cm wide, to reinforce buttons and button holes. Buckle at centre back is metal, lacquered black.
