Early Bronze Age bronze flanged axe
Long flanged axe Class 5Db, Type Arreton. Two conjoining fragments of a complete, slender, bronze flanged axe with cast flanges. The sides of the axe are straight and near-parallel curving out suddenly to a crescentic blade edge. 54mm from the butt-end there is a median bevel across both faces and flanges rise 3mm above the septum on both faces. Striations running parallel with the blade edge indicate that it was sharpened for use.
