M.V. KHUZISTAN. Cargo vessel built 1955 by John Readhead & Sons, South Tyneside (with 4-cylinder Doxford diesel engine by North Eastern Marine Engineering Co (1938) Ltd., Wallsend), for Strick Line Ltd., London, managed by F.C. Strick & Co Ltd. She was fitted with a 50-ton derrick for heavy lifts. Management was transferred to P&O General Cargo Division in 1972. 1973 – Sold to Nilmore Ltd., Somali Republic, and renamed FOOCHOW., managed by Anglo-Eastern Shipping Co Ltd., Hong Kong. She suffered heavy damage to her engine in May 1976 and was towed to Singapore where repairs were deemed uneconomic. She was laid up at Western Jurong until February 1977 when she was towed to Whampoa, China to be broken up.
