Armchair
back panel of chair bears the arms of the three ravens, the personal arms of Sir Rhys ap Thomas, enclosed within the garter and its famous motto, 'Honi soit qui mal y pense'. Above the back panel is a foliate top rail with a mask in the centre and also rosette carved rails beneath the seats; the arms are horizontally fixed to the back panel with the outer side gently moulded. The arm supports are marked by shallow incisions in a gentle spiral. The seat is made of 3 oak planks running from back to front and the stretchers are original
The chairs are believed to have been commissioned by Sir Rhys ap Thomas after he was presented with the honour of Knight of the Garter on 22 April 1505 by Henry VII mainly for services rendered during the Battle of Bosworth in 1485
