Model of Paddle Steamer Britannia boiler

Model of Paddle Steamer BRITANNIA's haystack type boiler. The model was made by an apprentice engineer at P. & A. Campbell, and is a model of an original boiler built by Barclay Curle & Co. Glasgow in 1935, which was installed into the P.S. BRITANNIA in the same year and was used until the steamer was withdrawn in the late 1950s. Copper model mounted onto wooden plinth.

P.S. BRITANNIA. Built in 1896 by S. McKnight & Co., Aire. She was renamed HMS Briton during World War I and HMS Skiddaw during World War 2. (1896-1956).
