Teapot and cover
Teapot, hard-paste porcelain, inset base within a flattened-off foot-rim, globular body, curving slightly fluted spout with tear-shaped mouldings along its length, high double-curved scrolled loop handle with foliate moulding to the shoulder, round flat cover with to the centre a finial modelled in the form of an apple with a stem and leaf spreading across the top of the cover, a pierced steam hole to one side, the cover attached to the teapot by a short length of metal chain which is fastened around the handle at one end and around the finial at the other; finely painted in polychrome enamels with to either side of the exterior body of the teapot a rustic landscape, one with a figure driving a donkey, the other with a donkey and a figure leading a bull, a miniature rustic landscape to the top of the cover, around the rest of the exterior body of the teapot and the top of the cover the occasional miniature foliate sprig in gilt, the spout and handle picked out in gilt, gilt bands around the lip-rim of the teapot and the rim of the cover, the apple finial painted gilt. The foot-rim of the teapot and the rim of the cover slightly chipped.
