Jug, earthenware, standing on a squared-off foot-rim, bulbous body composed of six convex panels separated by vertical incised lines, cylindrical neck flaring slightly to the mouth, lobed lip-rim, raised beak spout, a band of moulded anthemions to the shoulder, lip-rim and spout, foliate moulding to the underneath of the spout, high loop handle with raised foliate moulded thumb-spur and foliate moulding to the lower terminal, foliate moulding to the body beneath the handle; transfer-printed in purple with to the front of body the inscription "ROYAL ASSENT / TO THE / REFORM / BILL / 7 JUNE 1832" within a cartouche of flowers and foliage, to one side of the body a head and shoulders portrait of a male figure within a circular frame with the inscription "LORD JOHN RUSSELL" printed inside it, to the other side of the body a similar head and shoulders portrait of a male figure within a circular frame with the inscription "LORD BROUGHAM" printed inside it, border to the exterior and interior lip-rim and spout of alternating designs of a pair of clasped hands within a cartouche of foliage and a spray of flowers and foliage, a runnning border of small flowers and foliage to the handle.
