Figure of Emily Sandford, white earthenware, blue tinted crackle glaze, standing on an elliptically shaped base inscribed in gilt script. Sandford in contemporary dress of black shoes (only one visible) long full green skirt with black sprigged patterning, tight underglaze blue bodice with bell sleeves, face naturalistically painted, black ringlets, pale blue headress. Right arm pressed against waist and holding? handkerchief, left arm bent across body holding a black book (black lines simulating writing) against her chest, standing next to a red brown pedestal (the enamel applied in vertical wavy lines), with an orange top.
