Spill vase
Dillwyn & Co., Cambrian Pottery (1811 - 1817 and 1824 - 1850)
Spill-vase, earthenware, standing on a spreading waisted stepped foot, cylindrical body with raised bands to the top and bottom of the body; the decoration reserved against a black enamel ground so that the red earthenware body is revealed, this then transfer-printed in black with to one side of the body the head and shoulders of a female figure, and to the other side a group of winged cupids with torches and arrows, an egg and dart border to the foot-rim, an elongated egg and dart border with a band of red circular dots to the upper and lower parts of the main body, a wave border to the interior lip-rim.
