Lord Wakefield Zeppelin medal
Sir Charles Wakefield's gold medal (mounted as a watch fob) awarded to Gunner W. Jones from Cardiff.
The Lord Mayor of London promised £500 to the first pilot or gun crew to shoot down a Zeppelin. When L15 was downed on 31 March/1 April 1916 every gun crew in the Thames estuary claimed the reward. Instead, each man received a specially-struck medal in 9-carat gold.
