A dual purpose tool similar in appearance to a minature axe. At one end is a point used to clean the hoof before shoeing. At the other is a cutting edge for cutting off clenched horse-shoe nails protruding through the hoof in order to remove an old shoe. The cutting edge was used in conjunction with blows from a shoeing hammer.
