A plate with a waved rim, underglaze blue ground, decorated with gilt foliage sprays within gilt borders, further sprays of gilding extending into the cavetto, the centre with a circular polychrome reserve of Shakespeare dressed in green, seated in a library at a gothic table and chair, surrounded by books and manuscripts and attended by the muses of drama and poetry.
