Early Medieval iron tool
Remains of a socketed, waisted tool constructed from an almost rectangular flat piece of iron. One end of the tool flares outwards and has a straight edge. There is a single spike at one end of the flared end, the other is missing. At the centre of the tool, the sides curve inwards to create a partial socket for a handle. There is a small, circular perforation at the centre at this other end.
