Cheese stamp
The official stamp used by Mr Edward Lewis, who had been appointed the official cheese-tester in Caerphilly Cheese Market during the 1890s.
The stamp has a circular brass base, with a rubber stamp showing an impression of Caerphilly Castle in centre and the words CAWS CYMRU CAWS PUR GENUINE CAERPHILLY CHEESE around edge. Black laquered wood handle.
