Tarr, James C, ARCA (27/5/1905- /4/1996)
Pot and cover, made of polished alabaster and wood. Pot on circular base, sides gently tapering outwards, close fitting almost flat circular cover with a black wood disc knob. Alabaster held within bands of polished wood at foot and rim and around edge of cover, bands formed of sections with different grains, round disc of wood forming base. Alabaster also in rectangular sections, alternating milky orange and off white, two bands forming body, the upper deeper than the lower; on lid pale orange alabaster cut radially to form outer part of circle, pale green cut to form octagon around the lid. Lid cracked along faults in stone.
