Sampler
WOOLLEN CANVAS, embroidered with coloured silks in cross and satin stitches. Various floral, butterfly, bird, dog and ship designs, mostly arranged in pairs. In the centre within a compartment is the inscription: "Susannah Garden / Finished this Sampler / Sept. 30 1836, / Aged 9 Years." followed by the verse: “O ! how lovely natures flowers, Far more beautiful than ours. But alas they soon decay, Ours will last for many a day." There is a border of a floral wavy stem.
