Old sinking headgear, Nantgarw, about 1910. Preliminary primitive headframes for shallow sinking erected at Nantgarw. Each headframe has a single wheel to raise the pit bork [?] seen at the left. Primitive ladders allow access to the pulleys for oiling. Fan drift sections are shown in the foreground
