Stockings
Pair of knitted stockings, apparently unworn. Knitted by Ann Jones, Rhydcymerau, 1870.
Red and blue chevron pattern (width = seven rows of knitting). Straight stripes on heel and foot and narrow stripes (= 1 row of knitting) on toe. Upper edge: 2.3cm of single rib stitch (1 rib/1 purl alternating), followed by 6cm of a check pattern. Initials 'AJ' are embroidered on the area of check pattern (at the upper centre front) using pink wool.
