Morrison shelter
Morrison shelter originally installed in house of owner or manager of Albion Box Co., Dumball Road, Cardiff, removed to Works site where used as a work table. Metal legs and frame, layer of wood and metal sheet above wood, several nails embedded into wood.
Morrison shelters were brought in in 1940 and used till 1944, designed to protect against house collapse, came in pre-packed kit form. Means-tested applicants (free for poorly paid). Usually wire netting to front of shelter - the wood between metal frame and top to absorb shock.
